ITAR and Export-Controlled Data

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) govern the export and import of defense-related articles and services listed on the United States Munitions List (USML). Under U.S. law, all manufacturers, exporters, and brokers of defense articles, defense services, or related technical data must comply with ITAR requirements. This includes the protection and controlled handling of unclassified but export-controlled technical data, ensuring that access is limited to U.S. persons and managed in accordance with U.S. Department of State regulations.

For organizations involved in the manufacture, sale, or distribution of goods or services covered under the USML—or supplying components to such products—ITAR compliance requires registration with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and adherence to all applicable ITAR provisions. Companies certify that they understand and operate in accordance with these requirements when serving as suppliers to USML-linked programs.

Sand Solutions maintains annual registration with the U.S. Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and supports customers with environments designed to meet ITAR export control requirements for managing sensitive technical data in a secure, U.S.-based cloud.

We considered many companies [and] ultimately selected Sand Solutions because of its customer oriented approach to hosting, its common sense attitude of what it could do for us and how it would do it, and its professionalism. Sand Solutions was willing to create a solution that worked for us. We had Sand Solutions set up and host our Exchange server for email, as well as Active Directory. I am extremely pleased with the hosting and support that Sand Solutions has provided.
